Congratulations to the four Silver Creek High School seniors awarded the Tennis Club Scholarships this year. Each student will receive a $4,000 scholarship toward a post-secondary school of their choice. You can meet and chat with these students at our Scholarship Dinner on Saturday, April 23.  Jim Ferguson and Melinda Dobbs are checking the Scholarship Tournament and Dinner sign-ups, and report they are filling up fast. Deadline for the dinner is April 19th, so don’t miss out. Check your email and put your name on the dotted line if you have not already done so. The tournament is handicapped and will be tons of fun. There are two rounds consisting of men’s and women’s doubles. At dinner, a catered Mexican Fiesta will wow your taste buds! Speaking of the Scholarship Dinner and live auction on the 23rd, you have a chance to bid on great “stuff.” Ready for an adventure? How about a getaway for 2 days and 3 nights on Nob Hill in San Francisco? Wander up the myriad of SF’s stairs, ride a cable car, enjoy a scrumptious meal, or take in a play. Or you can drag your toes in the sand and surf at Aptos beach. The second get-away is 3 days and 2 nights in a home by the beach. Soak up the sun and enjoy brunch at the beach. Finally, consider a sojourn to Central Oregon’s Sunriver where you will spend 5 days and 4 nights at Fergie’s B & B. Included is a gourmet breakfast each day, a round of golf, kayaking, biking, and swimming. You can fish the river or a lake, hike a lava flow, gaze at the stars, or just breathe clean air and relax in the pines. There’s so much to do in Sunriver that you’ll never want to leave. These three getaways are all donated by our fellow Villagers. Additionally, there’s an adventurous Golf Package that includes golf and dinner at The Villages and more, as well as a massage by our very own Mary Ringel, CMT, to sooth your tired muscles. New is a Fab Foods Package that includes dining at The Villages and other places, so hold on to your toque. Six fantastic auction items. Oh, and I forgot, there’s a Wine Locker, full of award winning wines, for your perusal.  Too much to handle? Talk to your friends about splitting an auction item.  All these items raise money for a great cause and the funds go directly to the scholarships. The Scholarship Committee greatly appreciates those who participate to make this event so successful. Many generous businesses, including our own Villages and individuals have also contributed to the scholarships. Speaking of getaways, the Villages annual trip to Rossmoor is just around the corner, April 30th to be exact. Our new vice president, Randy Shaw sets up that event, so stay tuned.
