The Prescott

The Prescott Fund Raiser and Tournament

      • The next Prescott is scheduled for March 28th, 2026
      • Click here to sign up for the tournament or if you would prefer to donate without playing in the tournament.

The Prescott is usually held on a Saturday in March from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Once the final date is set, registration is announced on YourCourts and at villagestennis.vgcc.club.

The entry fee is $20.00, with all funds going to the Villages Medical Auxiliary (VMA). Additional donations from viewers and players are greatly appreciated. All contributions are tax-deductible and go directly to the VMA.

The first 48 to register get to play. Players should expect to play 2 rounds of tennis within four hours with breaks in between. No need to find a partner. You will be placed on a team that matches your skill level. Prizes are awarded to the 12 players with the most wins. The Social Committee provides finger food and beverages. The sound of music playing in the background makes it a lively event for those viewing. We hope to see you there!

Background

Over two decades ago, in 1997, a committee of 5 tennis members was organized to raise funds for the construction of two additional tennis courts, courts 5 and 6. Glenn Hamilton was President of the Tennis Club at the time construction began, and Phyllis Mueller was President when it was finished. Shig Murao and the tennis members raised $30,000 in two weeks, which Phil Prescott matched to get the $60,000 necessary to build the courts. Andy Nishimura took care of all the finances. If you ever get a chance to play on these beautiful courts, look for the commemorative plaque on the ground next to the entrance of the courts. The Villager’s tennis club celebrates the success of its endeavor with the annual Prescott Tournament Fund Raiser.
