Tennis Talk
By Betty Olsen

It was a beautiful weekend of tennis for the Tennis Club’s annual  Men and Women’s Doubles Tournament.  On Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23, all 6 tennis courts were full of players, the viewing stand was full of supporters (including grandchildren), and the food was abundant.

Many thanks to those who pitched in to help make it such a positive experience.  Let’s start with the food.  Val Loebic and Tammy Ehla from the Pickleball club arrived at 7:00am to put on the coffee and serve breakfast items.  Mary Jo O’Neill arrived shortly thereafter.  At 11:30 or so, they served lunch using the many salads and desserts made by Sherry Benz and Gail Tuft.

Jayme Dickson put up the much needed shade tent for spectators, the easels, boards for the draws, table and chair for the tournament desk.  Gail Tuft brought the needed tennis balls and Betty Olsen brought the draw sheets. Susan Cho, the gentle persuader, made the calls to increase participation, plus Liz Kung making our draw sheets look professional. Mother Nature cooperated with good weather.
