The tennis club annual mixed doubles tournament was held on Saturday and Sunday, September 19 and 20. Mother nature cooperated with a beautiful weekend of tennis, not too hot or cold. The stands were full of spectators and all enjoyed the tennis as well as the hospitality of breakfast and lunch by our social chairman, Sonia Soin and her committee. It was fun watching grandchildren cheer on grandparents!
On Sunday, at the conclusion of the tournament, we had a special celebration, celebrating Sonia Soin’s birthday with a birthday cake and delicious grilled hamburgers by Jayme Dickson.
Tournament results:

Next club event is Saturday, October 17 which is the semi-annual competition between Rossmoor and the Villages. In the spring the villages travels to Rossmoor and in the fall Rossmoor travels to the villages. This annual competition began some three decades ago with a large plaque passed to the winning team. The plaque keeps track of the final scores each year.
This spring the competition was so close that the set score was 11 – 11 and so each game had to be counted and the Villages won by 1 game. I am sure Rossmoor will be gearing up for a return match. Put this date on your calendars to come to the courts in the morning to cheer on your fellow villagers.
Also, put on your calendars the following dates to cheer on the Villages USTA 70+ 7.0 Women’s Doubles team.
- Tuesday, September 29, 10:30am
- Tuesday, October 6, 10:30am
- Tuesday, October 20, 10:30am
- Tuesday, October 27, 10:30am
Liz Kung is the captain and would like to see a lot of support in the stands. Match begins at 10:30am.
