The Villages Tennis League, better known as the VTL, spring season began April 12 and is past midpoint. This spring we have 2 teams, one captioned by Peggy Seidel and one captained by Roy Pennington.

While nearly all the matches have been close, the team captained by Peggy has a firm grip on first place with a record of 3-1. The VTL is in its fourth year of play, and competition is spirited as always. Matches are mixed doubles and teams are drafted by team captains. The format is such that players of similar skill levels compete against one another making for competitive yet fun matches.
The VTL presents an opportunity to play tennis against some of the best the Villages has to offer, and to play with and against someone other than your daily partners. Thus, one has a chance to meet other players, greet new members, and to make new friends. This year’s season will conclude May 20, unless they are able to schedule rainouts. Think about playing in the next VTL, and we hope to see you on the courts.
In case you want to watch and cheer. the schedule for the rest of the season is:
Wednesday, April 29, Wednesday, May 6, Thursday, May 14, Wednesday, May 20, all at 1:30pm.
The Jump Start program is ongoing every Tuesday at 5:00pm in case you want to watch. In addition, the Men’s 55+ team is in the middle of their season. Their next home match is Saturday, May 2 at 5:00pm.
The next event for the Villages is the BBQ Bocce Bash Sunday, June 7, 3:00 – 7:00pm, so put it on your calendar.
